DMTF Open Cloud Standards Incubator

The DMTF Standards Incubation process enables like-minded DMTF members to work together to produce informational specifications that can later be fast-tracked through the standards development process. The incubation process is designed to foster and expedite open, collaborative, exploratory technical work that complements the DMTF mission to lead the development, adoption and promotion of interoperable management initiatives and standards.

The Dasein Cloud API

The Dasein Cloud API provides an abstraction for applications that wish to be written independent of the clouds they are controlling. Instead of writing your code to a cloud-specific web services or Java API, you write your application against the Dasein Cloud API and plug in the implementation for the cloud you wish to use. This model is similar to many other Java standard APIs that provide an abstraction interface and drivers that handle the implementation details.

The Simple Cloud API

The Simple Cloud API is here to bring cloud technologies to PHP and the PHP philosophy to the cloud. With it, developers can start writing scalable and highly available applications that are still portable. If you're looking for code to start playing around with immediately, you'll find the first file storage, document storage, and simple queue interfaces with adapters for major cloud vendors here.

Server System Infrastructure (SSI) Forum

SSI’s goal is to enable future server market growth by standardizing interfaces between components, including boards, chassis, and power supplies, and by developing common server hardware elements.

Open Cloud Initiative

The Open Cloud Initiative (OCI) is an community based organisation founded in April 2009. Its mission is simply "To Define and Protect 'Open Cloud'".
Cloud computing users can now rest assured that offerings bearing the "Open Cloud" brand are indeed "open" in that critical freedoms (such as the right to access one’s own data in an open format via an open interface) are strongly protected. The OCI will also ensure a level playing field for all vendors while keeping the barriers to enter the marketplace low. Offerings also bearing the "Open Source" mark will have additional freedoms relating to the use, modification and distribution of the underlying software itself.

Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP)

The Reservoir project - Clouds Interoperability

Resources and Services Virtualization without Barriers is an European Union FP7 funded project that will enable massive scale deployment and management of complex IT services across different administrative domains, IT platforms and geographies. The project will provide a foundation for a service-based online economy, where - using virtualization technologies - resources and services are transparently provisioned and managed on an on-demand basis at competitive costs with high quality of service.
